Collection
James Hutson, age 14, a player from Crossfire Soccer Club made The Gift of Soccer his community service project. He built a website and created flyers including pick-up times and the location for the donation drive. He collected 93 jerseys and 24 shorts ranging in sizes from youth medium to adult large. He meticulously labeled and packed the gear! We didn’t need to clean, sort, or re-pack anything. We are proud to say, that your donations were put to great use as you can see from the photos and the feedback from Rance.
Distribution
Rance Bland, from SportsQuest, transported the soccer gear to the Salama Region of Guatemala. Rance organized an overnight soccer camp for 40 kids and at the end of the camp, they played a tournament.
“Thanks to The Gift of Soccer they were able to provide each team with a different uniform. Many of these kids are unable to afford playing for an official soccer club so it’s a big deal for them to be given a uniform.” said Rance Bland
SportQuest coaches will continue to use these uniforms every time they gather with the players for their community soccer academy or other camps/tournaments.
